Essential Skills

A PhD in a relevant field. Experience in using antibodies for purification, immunoblotting, immunoprecipitation and related methods and / or familiarity with protein extraction, fractionation and purification methods is required.

Ideal Skills

Experience in the following would be desirable: isolating protein complexes; chromatography and related separation methods; enzyme assays such as kinase and phosphatase assays; peptide technology such as peptide arrays; isotope labeling including SILAC methods; proteomic mass spectrometry; bioinformatics of proteins and peptides; mammalian cell culture; primary neuronal cell culture; high throughput methods; molecular biology including cloning and expression of recombinant proteins in bacterial and mammalian systems.

Postdoctoral Fellows are typically in their first or second postdoctoral position as part of a period of early career research training. The post is a three year fixed-term contract with the possibility of an extension.?

Successful applicant(s) who have submitted their PhD thesis and are awaiting their PhD award to be confirmed will be placed on a transitional pay point, currently £25,845. On confirmation applicants will be moved on to the pay scale above.?
