Synome is a Biotech company with 3 employees that specialises in high-throughput approaches to studying neuronal physiology in vitro. Synome studies the neural network properties of living neurons by recording their activity on multi-electrode arrays (MEA). This technology has been optimised for RNA interference and genetic applications as well as drug testing. The company has a specific focus on synaptic mechanisms of disease. Synome maintains close collaborations with academic partners and the pharmaceutical industry.
Main Tasks in this Project: The main task will be to exploit Synome’s MEA methods to study the effects of RNA knockdown (WP 7) in neuronal cultures. High throughput allows testing of many genes for their effects on neuronal development and mature function. These in vitro neural network assays are complementary to synaptic physiological methods either in slices or patch clamping used in other WPs.
Troels Jordansen is a Director of Synome and will manage the day-to-day operations of the company and the project.
